IMPA offers a PhD degree in Mathematics, aimed at preparing future researchers in the field.
The main requirement of the PhD program is the production of a dissertation embodying the results of original research.
IMPA has research groups in the following areas:
- Analysis/Partial differential equations
- Computer graphics
- Fluid dynamics
- Complex geometry and holomorphic foliations
- Differential geometry
- Symplectic geometry
- Dynamical systems and ergodic theory
The Masters program at IMPA is designed to provide a fast access to the PhD program. Students are offered the opportunity to broaden their knowledge in several areas of pure and applied Mathematics, allowing them to teach at the undergraduate level or practice professional activities that involve applications of Mathematics to technical or scientific problems.
IMPA offers Masters degrees in four areas:
- Computer Graphics
- Mathematical Economics
- Computational Mathematics and Modeling.
This educational program developed in cooperation with EMAp-FGV is “strictu sensu” according to the Brazilian accreditation agency CAPES.
Its main goal is to develop highly qualified professionals in the area of computational and mathematical modeling in quantitative finance, risk analysis and the analysis of financial instruments. The program focus of practical aspects of finance and the use of state of the art computational and mathematical methodologies.
