ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Otto Endler
He was born in Czechoslovakia, but his nationality was German, became a Brazilian at heart since he came to IMPA for the first time in 1957. His students easily recognized his German origins by his use of gothic letters to designate ideals.
His predilection for ideals and valuations can be explained by the fact that he graduated and obtained his PhD at the University of Bonn, under the guidance of W. Krull. He remained connected to Bonn, where he annually taught courses.
