Manfredo do Carmo
He was born in Maceió, where he was a student of Professor Benedito de Moraes. Manfredo graduated in Engineering in Recife and even tried to build roads in Alagoas. He was a professor of mathematics at ITA in São José dos Campos and at the Federal University of Pernambuco, which he left to an internship at IMPA, followed by studies at the University of California, Berkeley, where he earned a PhD under the guidance of S.S. Chern.
Manfredo was an aficionado of comic books, likes to draw, and some say that he writes books on geometry only as a pretext to show his figures and scribbles.
