IMPA announces a post-doctoral fellowship in mathematics

The “Instituto de Matemática Pura e Aplicada” (IMPA) in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, announces a post-doctoral fellowship in mathematics. This is a one-year position, which may be renewed for one more year by mutual agreement between IMPA and the fellow, aimed at researchers who had or still are associated with the French mathematics academic community. 

The fellowship provides a tax-free stipend of R$ 9,000.00, accompanied by an additional monthly stipend of R$ 1,000.00 to support academic travels. 

The position is open to applicants from all areas of Mathematics, both pure and applied. To be eligible for this position, applicants must have completed a Ph.D. degree in Mathematics or related areas within the last 10 years (or complete a PhD degree by August 2024) as well as have academic ties with the French mathematics community and interest in a subsequent career in France. 

The selected candidate will have the freedom to pursue their own research program and will be required to teach at least one graduate course per year. Collaboration and engagement with IMPA students and researchers are strongly encouraged. 

Applications for this position should include the following items: research plan; list of publications; curriculum vitae; the names and contact emails of at least three researchers who have familiarity with the applicant’s work and are able to recommend it. 

The assigned researchers will receive an e-mail message containing the applicant’s information and instructions on how to submit their letter of recommendation. 

The deadline for submission of applications is April 15 th, 2024. Results will be announced by May 2024. The selected candidate is expected to begin his/her activities at IMPA in September 2024. To submit your application, click here.
