Summer School
The program
In January and February, IMPA offers activities for researchers and students from other institutions alongside the usual program.
Courses, short courses and seminars are given.
Who can participate
Students regularly enrolled at IMPA and students from other institutions in two ways, as summer scholars and as free course students.
Registrations
Registrations must be made through our online system starting on December 10, 2025.
Summer grants*
For this program, assistance for local expenses is offered in the form of two-month grants.
Value: R$ 1,200.00 (one thousand two hundred reais per month).**
*Applicants residing in Rio de Janeiro will not be able to apply for the scholarship.

How apply for Summer Scholarship
Admission to IMPA’s Summer Program must be done through the online system. All applications submitted by October 15 and with complete documentation will be analyzed by the Teaching Committee. The result will be sent by e-mail.
- Create an account in our “IMPA Institutional” online system
- Select the program you want to apply for.
- Fill in all your personal information and other fields marked as compulsory.
- It must be included:
- A 3×4 photo for a document (from the front, alone, with a white background) and a photo ID.
- Nominations from at least two professors who can give an academic recommendation.
- Official transcripts from the institution where you studied. If you are still studying for your degree, you should send as complete a transcript as possible.
Comments:
- We can only guarantee that applications submitted by October 15 and with complete documentation will be reviewed. After this date, it is still possible to send documents, but applications will only be analyzed if there is enough time.
- The attached documents are not returned to the candidate after the trial.
- Only applications with complete documentation will be considered.
- The Teaching Committee will inform the candidate by e-mail of the decision taken on their application for admission.

Accommodation
Food
IMPA has a restaurant on the first floor of the building, and the price of lunch is approximately R$ 28.00 (twenty-eight reais).
Registering your visa with the Federal Police
Foreign students must register with the Federal Police within 30 days of arriving in Brazil, at Tom Jobim International Airport – 3rd floor – right-hand side. This registration costs approximately R$350.00 (three hundred and fifty reais).
Note: The visa form (obtained from the consulate of the country of origin) must be filled in completely, correctly and legibly. For more information, please contact ensino@impa.br.
