Summer program
Annually during January and February
The Summer Postdoctoral Program aims to promote scientific exchange between mathematicians from Brazil and other countries. The initiative also allows for research work, participation in seminars and the use of IMPA’s scientific environment. It is aimed at active mathematicians whose degree is equivalent to a PhD in Mathematics.
Applications are made online. Applicants are invited to fill in a form and indicate at least one IMPA faculty member with whom they plan to interact. Prior contact with the IMPA faculty member(s) of interest is not mandatory, but advisable.
Regular post-doctoral scholarships
Financing
The regular postdoctoral program requires external funding from, but is not limited to, agencies such as CAPES, CNPq and FAPERJ.
Before applying for funding from an external agency, the proposal must be submitted to and approved by IMPA's Scientific Activities Committee.
Consent
The proposal for a scholarship must be agreed with a member of our teaching staff, who will act as the scholarship supervisor.

Project “Outstanding Talents in Mathematics”
The Institute of Pure and Applied Mathematics (IMPA) is open to applications for a Postdoctoral Scholarship under the project "Outstanding Talents in Mathematics: Gaps and Barriers in Career Paths in Brazil". The project aims to develop, disseminate and evaluate media-based interventions to inspire more inclusive mathematical performance on a large scale, through the Brazilian Public School Mathematical Olympiad (OBMEP).
