IMPA Olympic Girls (MOI)
IMPA’s Olympic Girls (MOI) project aims to promote the effective presence of basic education students in mathematics, computing and robotics activities, stimulating vocations in the areas of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) and tackling gender stereotypes in the school environment.
Starting in 2019, MOI has been carrying out regular mathematics, robotics and computing activities in schools in Rio de Janeiro, as well as cultural programs involving visits to STEM training and professional institutions, museums, cultural centers and science fairs and events.
It also runs specific programs aimed at training teachers in pedagogical practices that overcome gender stereotypes.
Mathematics Open Book
The effort to produce mathematics textbooks with an open license began in 2016, with the production of the Fractions material for Primary School.
Since then, new developers have believed in and joined the project to reach new levels and new books.
Today, we have several chapters written and several books in production. All of this is the result of collaborative work involving mathematicians, university professors and primary school teachers.
Exhibitions
The exhibition currently on show is Rational Imaginary, by Mexican mathematician Aubin Arroyo.
In it, Arroyo invites the visitor to discover a territory where infinity, chaos and time intertwine with ideas, form and color.
The works open up a path in which visual contemplation becomes an approximation to mathematics, where the conceptual and the theoretical gain form and dimension, connecting the abstract to the tangible.
The exhibition opened on July 27, 2025 and is open to visitors.
