IMPA's Olympic Girls

The program, which is in its third edition, seeks to encourage the participation of girls between the ages of 14 and 17 in mathematical Olympiads and in the field of exact sciences in general, with the aim of increasing the presence of women in areas such as mathematics, computing, technology, among others.

IMPA’s Olympic Girls program is present in 10 schools in different regions of Rio de Janeiro and Niterói, and offers scholarships for 50 students to dedicate themselves to the project’s activities, which take place once a week in the schools themselves.

Mathematics Open Book

The effort to produce mathematics textbooks with an open license began in 2016, with the production of the Fractions material for Primary School.

Since then, new developers have believed in and joined the project to reach new levels and new books.

Today, we have several chapters written and several books in production. All of this is the result of collaborative work involving mathematicians, university professors and primary school teachers.

Exhibitions

The exhibition currently on show is Rational Imaginary, by Mexican mathematician Aubin Arroyo.

In it, Arroyo invites the visitor to discover a territory where infinity, chaos and time intertwine with ideas, form and color.

The works open up a path in which visual contemplation becomes an approximation to mathematics, where the conceptual and the theoretical gain form and dimension, connecting the abstract to the tangible.

The exhibition opened on July 27, 2025 and is open to visitors.
