Yadollah Zare's thesis can be used in Hilbert's problem.

Shy and reserved, doctoral student Yadollah Zare still faces some difficulty expressing himself in Portuguese. Originally from Shiraz, a city in southwestern Iran, he has only been in Brazil for four years pursuing his postgraduate studies. He manages well when speaking, but this will not be a problem during his thesis defense, scheduled for the afternoon of this Monday (19).

Mathematics can make elections fairer.
When it comes to numbers, language ceases to be a barrier. The discipline flows naturally for him and the researchers on the panel.
Yadollah's interest in mathematics was sparked in childhood, when he realized he excelled in math and science subjects. Despite also getting good grades in physics, he ultimately chose the science of Pythagoras.
He completed his bachelor's degree at Shiraz University, his master's degree at Tarbiat Modares University (in Tehran), and his doctorate in Brazil, under the guidance of a fellow countryman, IMPA researcher Hossein Movasati.
It was with Movasati's approval that Yadollah left Iran to pursue studies in Brazil, dedicating himself to research in Holomorphic Foliations.
Although the thesis "Pull back of polynomial differential equations" is in Pure Mathematics, it has applications in the 16th problem on David Hilbert's list, presented to the mathematical world at the 2nd International Congress of Mathematicians in 1900 in Paris, France. The problem, still unanswered, deals with the topology of algebraic curves and surfaces.
Yadollah's work will be analyzed at 3:30 PM in room 228 by a panel composed of his advisor and five other researchers: the former director-general of IMPA, César Camacho, Alcides Lins and Paulo Sad (IMPA), Younes Nikdelan (UERJ), and Thiago Fassarella (UFF).
After securing his doctorate, the young Iranian will leave in March for a month-long study period in Germany. With plans to pursue postdoctoral studies abroad, he awaits responses to applications.
