Viana participates in academic activities on a visit to Beihang

The director-general of IMPA, Marcelo Viana, participated, last Friday (12), in Beijing, in a series of academic and institutional activities that allowed him to get to know the work developed at Beihang University, considered the main institution dedicated to aeronautical and aerospace training in China. The visit seeks to strengthen the exchange of knowledge and scientific cooperation between Brazil and China.

Viana gave a lecture at the prestigious Grand Beihang Lecture series, receiving a certificate from the vice president of Beihang University, Yi Deng. During the visit, he visited the newly opened library of the Sahe campus, the C National Center for Innovation in Blockchain Technology, in addition to the training center for the aeronautical and aerospace industry.

Viana also attended a dinner with academic leaders of the university, including the vice-dean of the School of Microelectronics, Weisheng Zhao, Professor Xiao Zhang, chairman of the scientific council and director of the School of Mathematics, and Professor Xiao Wen, vice-dean and director of the School of Artificial Intelligence.

On Thursday (11), Viana met with the board of directors of the National Science Foundation of China (NSFC) to propose the creation of a Brazil-China exchange program for researchers and students in mathematics, inspired by the Brazil-France Network in Mathematics. The proposal was well received by the NSFC board.
