TV Brasil announces registration for OBMEP 2019.

The Brazilian Public School Mathematics Olympiad (OBMEP), which is open for registration until March 15, was the subject of a report on TV Brasil, broadcast this Tuesday (12).

In addition to explaining how schools can register for the country's largest scientific competition, created in 2005, the team spoke with the director-general of IMPA, Marcelo Viana, and with student Emanuel Trugilho Azevedo, from CEF 504 in Samambaia, a public school in the Federal District. He received an honorable mention in 2018 and is preparing to win a medal in this year's edition.

The Director-General of IMPA highlighted that the competition's medalists receive junior scientific initiation scholarships and spend a year studying Mathematics with university professors. "The OBMEP aims to help spread a love of Mathematics, help IMPA identify new talents and, in general, contribute to Mathematics being treated with more care in the school environment," stated Viana.
