The World Meeting for Women in Mathematics will be in 2022.

The second edition of the World Meeting for Women in Mathematics (WM)² is already scheduled. An initiative of the Committee for Women in Mathematics of the International Mathematical Union (IMU), this satellite event of the International Congress of Mathematicians (ICM 2022) will take place on July 5, 2022, in St. Petersburg, Russia. Mathematicians from around the world will gather to exchange experiences on advanced studies and reflect on gender issues in the field, its challenges, initiatives, and future perspectives.

The event will feature four lectures by distinguished female mathematicians from Russia and neighboring countries, a poster session, panel discussions on gender differences in mathematics, and the exhibition “МАТЕМАТИКА, through a land of mathematics”. By registering on the ICM website , you can indicate your interest in participating in the meeting. Support will be provided to qualified participants to cover accommodation and registration fees. The first edition of (WM)² took place at Riocentro, on the eve of ICM 2018, held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. On that occasion, the documentary “Journeys of women in mathematics” was launched, a film produced by the Simons Foundation that shows the experiences of three women as researchers and professors in different countries. The event also included a tribute to Maryam Mirzakhani (1977-2017), the only woman to win the Fields Medal, the highest honor in mathematics, created in 1937.
