The teams for the Southern Cone and OMCPLP competitions have been defined.

The teams that will represent Brazil in the 29th Southern Cone Mathematics Olympiad and the 8th Mathematics Olympiad of the Community of Portuguese-Speaking Countries (OMCPLP) have been defined. All the "athletes" are award winners from the 39th Brazilian Mathematics Olympiad (OBM) of 2017.

Southern Cone

In the Southern Cone competition, to be held between August 22nd and 29th in Maceió, the Brazilian team will be composed of Pedro Gomes Cabral, from Recife (PE); Enzo Pontes Saraiva de Moraes and Gabriel Ribeiro Paiva, from Fortaleza (CE); and Pablo Andrade Carvalho Barros, from Teresina (PI). The team will be led by Israel Franklin Dourado Carrah, from Fortaleza, and Rafael Filipe dos Santos, from Rio de Janeiro.

In addition to Brazil, the teams from Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Ecuador, Paraguay, Peru, and Uruguay have participated in the competition since 1988.

OMCPLP

This year, the OMCPLP will take place between September 2nd and 8th in São Tomé and Príncipe. The four students representing Brazil are Luciano Rodrigues de Oliveira Júnior, from Fortaleza; Eduardo Quirino de Oliveira, from Brasília; Marcelo Machado Lage and Gustavo Neves da Cruz, both from Belo Horizonte (MG). The team will be led by Ana Karoline Borges Carneiro, from Rio, and Kellem Corrêa Santos, from Brasília.

Held since 2011, the OMCPLP Mathematics Olympiad brings together students from Portuguese-speaking countries and aims to improve the quality of education and discover talent in mathematics.
