The OBMEP portal had over 4 million visits in 2020.

With comprehensive educational materials aimed at elementary and high school students who want to learn mathematics and physics in depth, the OBMEP Portal is a success among internet users. In 2020 alone, the site registered more than 4 million visits. There are 350,000 active users who use the portal for an average of four and a half hours per visit. The Portal is accessed not only by students studying for academic competitions, but also by those who want to review and deepen their understanding of the content taught in the classroom.

Developed by IMPA (Institute of Pure and Applied Mathematics), the page also features a series of mathematical puzzles for younger students, as well as other teaching materials covering topics from the mathematics curriculum from the 6th grade of elementary school to the 3rd year of high school, in addition to some extra topics in the subject. It also includes the Physics Portal, with lessons from the 9th grade of elementary school to the 3rd year of high school. At the end of each lesson or module accessed, it is possible to assess the knowledge acquired through tests offered by the Portal.

“The OBMEP Portal allows all Portuguese-speaking children to learn mathematics and physics with the best teachers in the country. There are videos, exercise books, online tests, theoretical handouts, and solved exercises. All for free. All you need is internet access,” comments Claudio Landim, general coordinator of OBMEP.

YouTube Silver Play Button

In 2019, the Portal da Matemática channel earned the YouTube "Silver Play Button," a plaque awarded to channels that reach 100,000 subscribers. Today, the channel has 167,000 subscribers who access more than 3,900 video lessons created by a team of teachers on the platform.

To facilitate access to content developed by the Olympiad's teachers, the OBMEP Portal has brought together, in one place, the Mathematics Portal, the Physics Portal, and Mathematics Puzzles for Elementary School. Teachers can also access the Portal and create a mentor profile, through which they can access resources such as forming classes, monitoring student progress, and exchanging messages with them.
