“Future Scientists” Opens Registration for the 2027 Science Immersion Program
The Northeast Center for Strategic Technologies (CETENE) has opened registration for the 2027 Science Immersion Program of the Future Scientists Program. The program will take place from January 4 to 29, 2027, and offers 470 spots for high school students and teachers from the state public school system across the country. Registration is free and open until October 26.
Designed to promote women’s participation in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM), the program aims to expose students and female teachers to the world of research and innovation. During the immersion program, participants will interact with scientific, technological, and innovation institutions and will have the opportunity to engage in activities based on scientific research.
The proposal also aims to foster critical and scientific thinking, as well as to broaden access to scientific, technological, and innovation culture. To this end, participants will be involved in projects that span different fields and provide hands-on scientific experiences. The immersion may take place in person or remotely, depending on the nature of the available projects.
Interested students must be currently enrolled in the Mondays year of high school at a state public school, in the regular, full-time, part-time, or technical track. In addition, they must have earned a grade point average of 6.0 or higher in Chemistry, Physics, Biology, Mathematics, and Portuguese during the first semester of 2026.
Teachers employed by state-run public high schools may also apply for the same positions. In this case, applicants must hold a bachelor’s degree in a teacher-training program recognized by the Ministry of Education (MEC) and be permanently or temporarily employed by the school at the time of application.
Of the 470 openings, 160 are reserved for students in the regular high school program, 160 for students in full-time, part-time, or technical high school programs, and 150 for female teachers. The announcement also sets aside spots for people with disabilities; Black, Brown, Indigenous, or Quilombola women; and transgender women, transvestites, and intersex women.
To apply, students must submit, among other documents, their Lattes CV, their transcript or a document showing their grade point average for the first semester of 2026, a valid ID, their CPF number, and proof of residence.
