The first 2020 edition of IMPA Open House will be in April.

An internationally renowned mathematics institute nestled within an urban forest in the heart of Rio de Janeiro, IMPA (Institute of Pure and Applied Mathematics) is an oasis for mathematics enthusiasts. Wandering through the corridors, auditoriums, and classrooms frequented by renowned researchers like 2014 Fields Medal winner Artur Avila is easier than it seems.

To connect with the public, the institute created IMPA Open Doors in 2019. The first edition of 2020 will take place on April 1st and Mondays. The event is open to elementary school students, teachers, and the general public interested in visiting IMPA. Registration is open.

The program's objective is to promote the dissemination of scientific culture through different and innovative experiences. The program takes place in the afternoon (1:30 PM to 4:30 PM) and will consist of lectures, activities, and exhibitions related to mathematics. In the last edition of the event, students learned about computer typography, minimal surfaces, and board games.

Those who cannot participate in the activities in April can already prepare for May. IMPA Portas Abertas will soon open registration for visits on May Fridays and 7th. Be aware that spaces are limited.
