Tests for the Children's Olympics are administered this Tuesday (27)

More than 4.4 million students from the Mondays to the Thursdays year of Elementary School from 30,700 public and private schools across the country are participating, this Tuesday (27), in the first phase of the Tuesdays Children's Olympiad – OBMEP . Held by IMPA , the scientific competition aims to transform children's relationship with the subject through playful and creative proposals.

“The Children’s Olympics are aimed at both students and teachers in the early years of basic education. The number of participants in this edition shows that the initiative is gaining increasing acceptance within the context of Elementary School 1,” highlights the general director of IMPA, Marcelo Viana.

The Children's Olympics consists of two phases, both administered by the schools. The first stage is a qualifying test with 15 multiple-choice questions. Students who qualify in this stage will be able to participate in the second phase test, on November 12th, also composed of 15 objective questions. The content of the tests corresponds to the students' grade level, which are divided into Children's Level 1 (Mondays and Tuesdays grade of Elementary School) and Children's Level 2 (Wednesdays and Thursdays grade of Elementary School).

This is the third edition of the Olympiad dedicated to such young students. In 2018, IMPA began the process of including the early years with OBMEP – Level A, aimed at students in the Wednesdays and Thursdays grades of elementary school. Now, with the Junior Olympiad, created in 2022, the project serves children in the Mondays and Tuesdays grades.

The OBMEP Children's Olympics is an initiative of IMPA, with support from B3 Social, CAPES, and CNPq. The competition is promoted by the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MCTI) and the Ministry of Education (MEC).
