Summer course opens applications for scholarships.

Another edition of IMPA's highly anticipated Summer Course is approaching. Until November 10th, researchers and students residing outside of Rio de Janeiro can apply for a scholarship of R$ 1,200 per month to participate in the traditional courses, mini-courses, and seminars offered in January and February at the institute. Applications must be submitted through IMPA's online system . The submitted documents will be analyzed by the Teaching Committee, and the result will be sent by email.

The 2024 Summer Course will take place between January 2nd and March 1st and is free of charge. Others interested in the program can register between December 16th and January 15th. Foreign students must have a valid student visa for regular registration at IMPA. The visa must be obtained before arrival in Brazil, and foreign students must also register with the Federal Police within 30 days of their arrival date in Brazil.

The Summer 2024 program is now available on the website. The Scientific Initiation course will include two subjects: Analysis on the Real Line and Introduction to Mathematical Economics. The course aimed at master's students will have 10 subjects: Machine Learning, Markov Chains, Combinatorics, Computation, Logic and Set Theory, Introduction to Complex Dynamics, Introduction to Statistical Mechanics, among others. Nine other subjects are part of the doctoral curriculum, such as Commutative Algebra, Functional Analysis, Algebraic Curves, Topics in Representation Theory, and others.
