SBM launches call for applications for PROFMAT 2022
The call for applications for the National Entrance Exam for PROFMAT (Professional Master's Degree in Mathematics in the National Network) 2022 is now available . Applications open on September 8th and close on October 25th at 5 PM Brasília time. Aimed at mathematics teachers currently working in Basic Education with a degree in any field, PROFMAT aims to provide in-depth mathematical training, especially for teachers in public schools.
In this edition, 1,400 places will be offered, distributed across 97 Higher Education institutions located in all regions of the country. Coordinated by the Brazilian Mathematical Society (SBM) with support from IMPA, the master's program is free, semi-presential, and validated by the Ministry of Education (MEC) with the highest possible score (5).

Those interested should access the official PROFMAT page , fill out the electronic form with personal and professional data, and pay a registration fee of R$ 82. To register, it is necessary to be a teacher currently teaching mathematics in public or private schools and have a bachelor's degree recognized by the MEC (Brazilian Ministry of Education).
The exams will be administered on December 4th, from 2 PM to 5 PM, simultaneously at all participating institutions. It is up to the institutions to determine if there are sanitary conditions for the in-person administration of the exam by November 19th. If not, they may postpone the exam to January 8th, 2022.
Candidates with the highest overall scores will be ranked according to the number of places available on each campus, taking into account any quota systems of the associated institution. The results will be published by the respective Institutional Academic Committee on December 21st. Recognized by the National Education Council (CNE), the program emerged to meet the demand for training mathematics teachers. The Brazilian Mathematical Society (SBM) then developed a course proposal based on IMPA's experience in the Professional Development Program for High School Mathematics Teachers (PAPMEM).
Created in 2011 by the Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel (Capes), PROFMAT makes available on its website more than 5,500 course completion papers already presented, in addition to video lessons .
