Registration is open for the Summer School; classes begin on January 5th.

January and February at IMPA are months of bustling corridors and circulating ideas. The traditional IMPA Summer School 2026 will take place from January 5th to February 27th at the institute's headquarters in Rio de Janeiro. The program is aimed at undergraduate and graduate students, professors, and researchers from institutions in Brazil and abroad. Registration is now open and can be done until January 12th through IMPA's online system. The deadline for canceling registration is February 4th.

The program includes regular undergraduate, master's, and doctoral programs, as well as seminars and short courses, covering various areas of pure and applied mathematics, computer science, physics, and mathematical economics. The activities take place alongside the institute's regular academic program throughout January and February. Check the schedule here.

Among the courses offered, noteworthy subjects include Analysis on the Real Line and Introduction to Mathematical Economics for undergraduate research; Markov Chains, Machine Learning, and Combinatorics I for Master's students; and Functional Analysis, Algebraic Curves, Differential Topology, and Topics in Mathematical Economics for PhD students. The Summer School will also feature a varied agenda of thematic seminars and mini-courses taught by IMPA researchers and guests from national and international institutions.

Applications for the program must be submitted through the IMPA online system , including mandatory documentation such as identification documents, academic transcripts, and faculty recommendations. Applications will be evaluated by the Teaching Committee, and results will be communicated via email.
