Registration is open for the CBMM Science and Technology Award.

Applications are now open for the sixth edition of the CBMM Science and Technology Award. With the theme "For the minds that create new tomorrows," this initiative of the Brazilian Metallurgy and Mining Company is aimed at professionals from across the country who have developed innovative products, processes, methodologies, or services in the areas of computer science, earth sciences, life sciences, engineering, physics, mathematics, and chemistry. Candidates can apply voluntarily or be nominated by research and teaching institutions in the field. The deadline is April 19th, and participation is free. See the regulations here.

The award is divided into two categories: Science and Technology. The first will recognize Brazilian researchers and teams with outstanding achievements in the global scientific landscape, and the second, professionals who have developed practical applications and promoted positive and relevant impacts in the field. The two winners will each receive a prize of R$ 500,000.

The works will be analyzed by an independent judging committee, composed of seven members, including the president of the Brazilian Academy of Sciences (ABC), Helena Nader. The panel will evaluate two criteria: creativity and originality, and contribution and impact to science or development and innovation. The winners will be announced in August.
