Registration for OBMEP at School ends this Friday (28)

Mathematics teachers from municipal and state public schools, with two years of experience in basic education, have until June 28th to register for the OBMEP na Escola 2020 program.

The main goal is to improve the quality of teaching the subject in the country, encouraging the adoption of new teaching practices in classrooms and extracurricular activities using OBMEP materials, such as tests and question banks.

Teachers across the country will be guided in developing curriculum content, following the didactic practice of problem-solving, working with groups of students selected from their own schools or neighboring schools.

Selection for participation in the program will be based on the 2019 Qualification Exam, which will take place on September 28th. Teachers awarded in the 2019 edition of OBMEP (list to be released on December Tuesdays) already have their places guaranteed, regardless of whether or not they take the exam, or its result.

Conducted by IMPA with support from the Brazilian Mathematical Society (SBM), the program is funded by the Ministry of Science, Technology, Innovation and Communications (MCTIC) and the Ministry of Education (MEC).

The OBMEP at School 2020 program also has sponsorship from the Itaú Social Foundation through scholarships offered to participating teachers. From March to September 2020, qualified and selected teachers will receive a monthly scholarship of R$ 765 to carry out the activities.
