Registration for IMPA Tech closes this Friday (27)
IMPA Tech, the undergraduate program of IMPA (Institute of Pure and Applied Mathematics), closes its registration deadline for 2025 this Friday (27) at 5 pm. The Bachelor's degree in Mathematics of Technology and Innovation is 100% free and offers up to one hundred places for students from all over Brazil. Medalists from five knowledge olympiads and students with good performance in the mathematics section of the ENEM (National High School Exam) can participate in the selection process. Registration can be done free of charge on the website impatech.impa.br . Located in Porto Maravalley, a technology hub promoted by the City Hall of Rio de Janeiro, in the city's port area, IMPA Tech is alongside startups and technology companies, creating an environment of innovation and collaboration between academia and the job market. With an interdisciplinary and innovative curriculum, the undergraduate program lasts four years and is in-person, full-time. In the first year of the bachelor's degree, students dedicate themselves to a basic cycle and subsequently choose between four specializations: Mathematics, Computer Science, Data Science, and Physics . With the goal of bringing together the best students from different states, IMPA Tech offers student housing, provided by the Rio de Janeiro city hall, and financial support. Furthermore, those approved in the final stage of the selection process will have their airfare to the beginning of the academic year in Rio de Janeiro paid for by the institute. The first undergraduate class began in April of this year and brings together students from all five regions of the country. Francisco José, 19 years old, left Fortaleza (CE) to study and was surprised by the experience. “The entire structure of IMPA Tech is designed to help students learn knowledge in practice. The Institute does everything possible to ensure we have a good experience, using our time in the best possible way, dedicating ourselves to our studies. Anyone who is accepted should come here. It's one of the best educational opportunities that exist in Brazil,” he stated. Read more: 2024 Retrospective: President inaugurates IMPA's undergraduate program Folha: 'Squaring the circle, synonymous with impossible' IMPA develops algorithm to optimize oil extraction For the new class, 80% of the places are reserved for medalists from OBMEP (Brazilian Mathematics Olympiad for Public Schools) – level 3 / national award; OBM (Brazilian Mathematics Olympiad) – level 3; OBFEP (Brazilian Physics Olympiad for Public Schools) – levels B and/or C National; OBQ (Brazilian Chemistry Olympiad) – modalities A and/or B; and OBI (Brazilian Informatics Olympiad) – programming modality / levels 1 and/or 2, only High School. The remaining 20% are for students from the ENEM (National High School Exam). The candidate must choose one registration modality. Conducted in two stages, the selection process will also include group activities and individual interviews (online). As detailed in the announcement, the undergraduate program will have places for general admission and will also reserve a number of places for candidates distributed in different quota groups. Beatriz Carvalho, who came from Rio Branco (AC) to study, highlighted the importance of OBMEP in securing her place. “OBMEP was a unique experience that allowed me not only to improve my academic performance and mathematics, but also to gain admission to IMPA Tech. I am grateful for this opportunity and I am sure that I will evolve and enter the job market with an excellent education,” she stated.
