Press highlights the holding of the 2nd Children's Olympics-OBMEP

The opening of registrations for the 2nd OBMEP Children's Olympics was highlighted in media outlets such as Folha de S. Paulo , O Globo , O Dia , Agência Brasil , UOL Notícias, and Correio Braziliense . Radio stations CBN, Globo, Tupi, and Roquette Pinto also reported on the registrations, which are open to public and private schools until June 16th via the website olimpiadamirim.obmep.org.br.

In Folha, the children's competition gained space in Folhinha, a section of the newspaper dedicated to news about the children's world. The publication publishes weekly logic challenges from the OBMEP Portal, in partnership with IMPA.

In an article published last day (11), the newspaper highlighted the participation of 2.7 million students in the first children's competition, held last year, and the possibility of this edition increasing the number of participants, with the inclusion of private institutions.

“Let’s have fun with the challenges of the Mathematics Olympiad! They are for everyone, and solving them is a blast. IMPA organizes the Olympiad to present mathematics in a different, fun, and stimulating way,” said IMPA’s Director-General, Marcelo Viana, to the publication.

The newspaper O Globo highlighted that the competition, aimed at students from the 2nd to the 5th grade of elementary school, seeks to transform children's relationship with the subject through playful and creative proposals. Speaking to the publication, the deputy director of IMPA and general coordinator of OBMEP, Claudio Landim, stated that the initiative also aims to improve teachers' practices.

"The 2nd edition of the Children's Olympiad presents many challenges: sparking children's interest in mathematics, engaging teachers from the early years of elementary school, and increasing school participation."

The topic also generated articles in Agência Brasil ; Jornal O Dia ; Correio Braziliense ; UOL Notícias ; Rádio Tupi ; Rádio Globo; Rádio Roquette Pinto, among others.

About the Junior Olympics-OBMEP

Promoted by IMPA (Institute of Pure and Applied Mathematics) , registrations for the 2nd Miri m-OBMEP Olympiad can be made through the website until June 16th. Last year, the competition involved only public schools and brought together 2.7 million students. The inclusion of private schools was a new feature announced this year.
