Postdoctoral position in Applied Mathematics: applications extended.

The Institute of Pure and Applied Mathematics (IMPA) has extended the deadline for applications for the single Postdoctoral Excellence position in Applied and Industrial Mathematics. Applications are now open until October 20th.
The scholarship, lasting one year (renewable) and offering a monthly stipend of R$ 8,900.00, is intended for young PhDs working in Applied Mathematics. Applications focusing on mathematical methods for solving problems related to any Brazilian productive sector, including energy, transport, oil, communications, finance, and others, are particularly welcome.
Candidates may have obtained doctorates in various fields besides mathematics, such as engineering, economics, physics, chemistry, etc., provided they completed their doctorate after March 2013. Candidates with expected completion of their doctorates by December 2017 will also be accepted.
The online application can be submitted here . Applicants may include in their applications documents from companies in the production sector expressing interest in their research project. These documents may be submitted by the applicant on the same website as the application.
IMPA will announce the chosen candidate for the position in November 2017. The new student is expected to begin activities at the institute in the first semester of 2018, between January 1st and June 1st, 2018.
Required documentation: research proposal and curriculum vitae including at least:
1) Updated list of publications;
2) Institution and date on which the doctorate was completed;
3) Thesis title and supervisor's name.
