Pi Center selects four students for a project with Stone.
The IMPA Innovation and Projects Center (Centro Pi) is selecting four master's or doctoral students to join a machine learning project applied to time series processing and predictive maintenance, which will be carried out in partnership with the company Stone . Applications are open until September 18th and the application form is available at this link .
Students working in fields related to the project's themes are eligible to apply. Submissions from recent graduates will also be considered. IMPA students wishing to participate in the project must have approval from their academic advisor.
According to the announcement , those selected will develop scientific activities such as: bibliographic research, development and implementation of algorithms, preparation of reports, presentations and seminars.

'Social return is important,' says Ganacim, a scientist at IMPA.
The selection process will be carried out by the Technological Projects Committee (CPT) of IMPA according to the following criteria: background in relevant disciplines in areas such as probability, machine learning , information theory, optimization, algorithms, among others; experience in industrial projects; experience in academic projects and publications; and interests aligned with the project objectives.
Coordinated by project scientists from the Pi Center, the project will last four months, from September 23, 2024 to January 31, 2025, and may be extended at IMPA's discretion. Participants will receive a technological development grant during the course of the work.
The selection results will be announced starting September 20, 2024, via email or phone.
