Pi Center opens registration for project with Petrobras

The IMPA Innovation and Projects Center (Centro Pi) is selecting master's and doctoral students to join a machine learning project in collaboration with Petrobras. Students from IMPA and other institutions interested in participating can apply for the selection process until October 13th. Applications can be submitted via the form .

The initiative aims to integrate machine learning and neural network ideas into the seismic inversion problem, developing techniques for the velocity model and solving the full wavefield inversion problem. Furthermore, the project also aims to develop methods and theories for hybrid models that include additional data, such as uncertainty quantification.

Registration is open for the 1st PROFMAT Meeting.

Up to six positions will be offered, and the work will last three months, with a start date scheduled for October. The project will last two years, and student participation may be extended to subsequent periods.

The selection of students will be made by the Technological Projects Committee (CPT) of IMPA and will take into account criteria such as: background in relevant disciplines in areas such as probability, ordinary differential equations, partial differential equations, machine learning, information theory and optimization; experience in industrial projects and interests aligned with the project objectives. The results will be announced by October 20th.
