Pi Center opens postdoctoral position.

The IMPA Innovation and Projects Center (Centro Pi) is accepting applications for a postdoctoral position in industrial mathematics. The stipend is R$ 7,370, and selected candidates will participate in a project developed in partnership with Petrobras.

The deadline for submitting applications is December 1Thursdays. To participate in the selection process, it is necessary to fill out the form available at this link . The final result will be announced in January 2024, and activities are expected to begin in February of the same year. The contract period is one year, which may be extended for another year.

The initiative aims to integrate machine learning and neural network ideas into the seismic inversion problem, developing techniques for the velocity model and solving the full wavefield inversion problem. Furthermore, the project also aims to develop methods and theories for hybrid models that include additional data, such as uncertainty quantification.
