PAPMEM is accepting applications until July 18th.

With the goal of providing high-quality training for mathematics teachers, the PAPMEM (High School Mathematics Teacher Improvement Program) will have a new edition, in virtual format, between July 26th and 30th. Registration is open until July 18th and must be done on the IMPA website . The program schedule is already available on the program's page .

Between July 26th and 29th, IMPA's YouTube channel will broadcast two classes per day to participants, always starting at 9 am. At the end of each class, the organization will send exercises in the form of an online form that must be answered by the students by 10 pm on the same day. The answers will be used to count the participants' attendance.

Questions about the content of the classes can be sent to the organization until 2 pm on Thursday (29). On the last day of the program, the most relevant questions will be answered. Participants who complete all the exercises will receive a certificate in digital format.

"The PAPMEM program aims to provide teachers with content improvement, promote discussion of modern and efficient ways of teaching and evaluating, demonstrate the use of modern technology in education, stimulate the learning of new topics, and improve upon existing subjects. It is a program that brings together thousands of mathematics teachers around the same activity: teaching mathematics," said the coordinator of PAPMEM, Eduardo Wagner, who holds a master's degree in Mathematics from IMPA and is a professor at the Getúlio Vargas Foundation (FGV).

Free of charge, PAPMEM was created in 1990 and covers selected topics from all three years of high school and some from elementary school. The program gave rise to a series of books aimed at high school teachers, published in the Mathematics Teacher Collection of the Brazilian Mathematical Society (SBM) . With support from the CAPES-FAPERJ program, PAPMEM also inspired the publication of the three volumes of the book "The Mathematics of High School" .
