With the goal of providing high-quality training for mathematics teachers, the Professional Development Program for High School Mathematics Teachers (PAPMEM) will have a new edition, in virtual format, from January 24th to 28th. Registration is open and must be done through the IMPA institutional website by January 20th.

Between January 24th and 28th, IMPA's YouTube channel will broadcast two classes per day to participants, always starting at 9 am. All classes will be available on YouTube. At the end of each class, the organization will send exercises in the form of an online form that must be answered by the students by 10 pm on the same day. Participants who complete all exercises will receive a digital certificate.

Questions about the content of the classes can be sent to the organization and, on Friday (28), questions received throughout the week will be answered live.

Free of charge, PAPMEM was created in 1990 and covers selected topics from all three years of high school. Content includes spatial geometry, isometries in the plane, functions and modeling, optimization problems without calculus, working with areas and probabilities: simulation of experiments. Other topics to be presented are mathematics and communication with extraterrestrials and digital tools: a paradigm shift in teaching/learning.

The program gave rise to a series of books aimed at high school teachers, published in the Mathematics Teacher Collection of the Brazilian Mathematical Society (SBM). With support from the CAPES-FAPERJ program, PAPMEM also inspired the publication of the three volumes of the book "The Mathematics of High School Education".Videos of previous modules of the program are available on the website.
