OBMEP: See the preliminary list of those approved for the 2nd phase.

More than 900,000 students from public and private schools across Brazil will participate in the second phase of the 17th OBMEP. The preliminary list of qualified students was released this Tuesday (2). The test will be held on October 8, at 2:30 pm (Brasilia time). To check the students selected to participate in the second stage, access the OBMEP website at this link .

In its 17th edition, the largest scientific olympiad in the country had more than 54,000 participating schools, located in 99.78 % of Brazilian municipalities. The first phase exam was taken by more than 18.1 million students. In the second stage, 575 gold medals, 1,775 silver medals, and another 5,175 bronze medals will be awarded, in addition to 51,900 honorable mentions.

With the preliminary list of classified students, schools can now request special accommodations for Sabbath-observing students, students with special needs, and those with incorrect names, until August 26th. The locations for the exams will be announced on August 30th. Check the upcoming dates on the 17th OBMEP calendar.

About OBMEP

Created by IMPA in 2005 and held with the support of the Brazilian Mathematical Society (SBM), the competition is promoted with resources from the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MCTI) and the Ministry of Education (MEC).

Aimed at students from the 6th grade of elementary school to the 3rd year of high school, OBMEP contributes to stimulating the study of Mathematics and identifying young talents in the discipline. Other objectives of the initiative are to promote social inclusion through the dissemination of knowledge and to contribute to improving the quality of basic education, enabling a greater number of Brazilian students to access quality teaching materials.
