OBMEP Portal gains new content.
The OBMEP Portal has a new look! Starting this Friday (4), the page will also offer video lessons with the development of OBMEP exam questions. Students who wish to understand the step-by-step of the questions proposed in various editions of the Olympiad can access the page https://portaldaobmep.impa.br/ Click on the “exams and solutions” tab; choose the year the exam was administered and then select the exam level. Currently, video lessons for the 2018 and 2019 exams have been made available.
Designed for elementary and high school students, the OBMEP Portal is part of a set of materials offered by the Olympiad, through IMPA, to assist in the study of mathematics and physics and in preparing students for knowledge olympiads, including the 2nd phase of the 19th OBMEP, which takes place on October 19th of this year.

'I want to be an inspiration,' says IMPA Tech student.
'I understand what it means to be an Olympian,' says medalist Davi Pereira.
The platform features over 5,400 video lessons, exercises, and study guides. According to Adriana Pimenta, a professor in the Mathematics Department at UniRio (Federal University of the State of Rio de Janeiro) and academic coordinator of OBMEP in the RJ01 region, the quality of the material offered makes the platform appealing to diverse audiences.
"The videos are didactic, self-explanatory, and the only difficulty is choosing among so many excellent options, since the same topic is approached from different and equally interesting perspectives. They cater to levels ranging from elementary school, through the PIC program, to higher education and even continuing education for mathematics teachers. Furthermore, the material undergoes a rigorous review system, which gives us great confidence regarding the content being studied."
In addition to video lessons, the OBMEP Portal offers the famous puzzles designed to stimulate logical reasoning. These were inspired by the Snap Fair project , produced by the Canadian foundation SNAP Mathematics Foundation, whose objective is to encourage the organization of mathematics fairs in schools, with challenges, discussions, solutions, and guidance for teachers interested in stimulating the curiosity of children and adolescents in solving various problems.
“The student encounters mathematics based on problem-solving. I, as a teacher in the Rio de Janeiro State and Municipal School System, use activities related to the portal in both lesson planning and execution across various grade levels from elementary to high school, including motivational situations and problems in adult education to trigger the necessary mathematical content for learning,” added the Olympic teacher, Roberto Peregrina.
The videos on the OBMEP Portal are a great way to study for the second phase of the competition. Access the website and happy studying!
