Application Hubs

The regional coordinators for levels 1, 2, and 3 have determined centralized Application Centers where the exam will be held. Check the list of locations: ( http://www.obm.org.br/content/uploads/2017/11/polos_de_aplicacao_OBM_2017.pdf )

Exam duration
The maximum duration of the exam is 4 hours and 30 minutes. There is no minimum time.

What to bring

Photo ID with CPF number. Students who do not have a CPF may provide the document number of their legal guardian (father or mother);

Ballpoint pen (blue or black), pencil, ruler, eraser, compass, and pencil sharpener;

Ideally, the student should bring more than one ballpoint pen and test them all before the exam.

Food and water can be brought on exam days. It is recommended to consume easy-to-handle foods such as biscuits, chocolate, and cereal bars. It is not good to overdo it, as excess food can cause you to lose concentration during the exam.

What not to bring

Avoid bringing any materials other than those required. If a student arrives with electronic equipment or other prohibited items, they must be switched off and stored until the exam is over. Therefore, if possible, it is best to leave them at home.

Not allowed

The use of electronic devices, tablets, radio transmitters, calculators, computers, iPods, iPads, recorders, MP3 players or similar devices, as well as the consultation or use of notes, books, manuals, annotations or printed materials, is prohibited. Cell phones must remain switched off during the exam.

Fill out the form with your information and verify that the test is complete.

Before you begin answering the questions, make sure that no questions are missing or that there are no graphic defects that make them difficult to read. Personal information must be recorded on the registration form and on the answer sheet.

Scoring and solutions

The test should preferably be completed using a ballpoint pen (blue or black), as the solutions will be scanned later.

Each problem is worth 10 points. Points may be awarded for partial solutions and for specific cases that demonstrate some progress in solving the problem.

All solutions must be justified. A simple answer, without indicating how it was obtained, will receive a lower score.

All materials must be handed in to the proctor in your room at the end of the exams. Don't forget to hand in the scratch paper.

What not to do

Students must uphold the principles of Olympic honor. Actions such as attempting to copy another candidate's answers or using external materials, such as notes or electronic devices, may disqualify the student.

Participants will not be allowed to communicate with other candidates during the tests.

By participating, students agree not to disclose the content of the questions, as well as the solutions, through any means of oral, visual, written or electronic communication, until the publication of the exams on the OBM website.

Results announcement

The list of winners of the 39th Brazilian Mathematics Olympiad (OBM) will be published in December on the OBM website. The winning students will be contacted directly by the event organizers.
