Obituary notice for Professor Jacob Palis

Dear colleagues and friends,

It is with immense sadness that we announce the passing today in Rio de Janeiro of Jacob Palis, emeritus researcher and former director of IMPA.

Our thoughts are with his family, friends, and colleagues, with all those who had the privilege of knowing the immense scientist and human being that Jacob was, and always will be.

The wake will take place at Memorial do Carmo, chapel 4, this Thursday (8), from 10:30 am to 2:30 pm.
