O Globo newspaper shows how AI impacts IT careers

In an article published this Sunday (7), the newspaper O Globo highlighted how the rapid advance of generative artificial intelligence (AI) is redesigning the job market in many sectors. With the title, “The code strikes back: AI is the 1st digital revolution to affect technology professionals themselves”, the article shows how technology has impacted careers that were previously seen as synonymous with stability.

The text points out that functions once considered essential for young people to enter the IT area, such as basic technical support and manual software testing, already lose relevance with the rise of AI. “The classic programmer, who in the last decade wrote his codes in a ‘manual way’, now gives way to those who know how to orchestrate algorithms and can think beyond them. The profile demanded has changed. Creativity, for example, will be more important in the next five years than simple data analysis,” says the report.

In this scenario of transformation, the newspaper also addressed the race of universities to contemplate new demands of the labor market. As an example, the text cited the IMPA initiative, which launched in 2024 the bachelor’s degree in Mathematics of Technology and Innovation – “a degree that puts mathematics in tune with technological transformation,” says the report.

In an interview with the newspaper, Marcelo Viana, general director of IMPA, says that the bet on multidisciplinary training is fundamental. “Those who will have the best chance of thriving in the future market are those who have multiple talents and the ability to be creative and adapt to an accelerated changing scenario,” he said.
