Nominations for the SBM Prize close on February 28th.

If you are a researcher at a national teaching and research institution and have read an original article in the field of Mathematics, published from 2016 onwards, you can nominate it for the 2019 Brazilian Mathematical Society (SBM) Award. The registration period ends on February 28th.
Created to distinguish the best original article in the field, authored by a young researcher residing in Brazil, the SBM Prize is awarded every two years during the Brazilian Mathematics Colloquium (CBM). In addition to a diploma and a stipend of R$ 20,000, the winner is invited to give a plenary lecture at the colloquium, held at IMPA.

Nominations for the SBM Award may be submitted by sending documentation in English to the email address premioSBM@sbm.org.br . See the regulations for additional information.
In the three editions held so far, two IMPA researchers have been awarded: in 2013, Artur Avila won with “On the regularization of conservative maps”, an article published in Acta Mathematica 2015 (2010); in 2017, the winner was Robert Morris, author of “Independent sets in hypergraphs”, published in the Journal of the American Mathematical Society, volume 28 (2015).
The winning article will be selected by a committee formed by professors Noga Alon (Tel Aviv University and Princeton University), Vaughan Jones (Vanderbilt University), Richard Schoen (University of California-Irvine), Stanislav Smirnov (University of Geneva), and Paolo Piccione (USP), president of the SBM. The judging criteria will include originality, relevance, depth, and potential impact on the development of the respective field.
