Monitoring and Evaluation Committee visits OBMEP

The Monitoring and Evaluation Committee, responsible for periodically reviewing the results and goals of IMPA's management contract, visited the institution this Tuesday (15). At the headquarters, in Jardim Botânico, the group learned about the functioning of OBMEP (Brazilian Mathematics Olympiad for Public Schools).

The committee members were received by the deputy director of IMPA and general coordinator of the Olympiad, Jorge Vitório Pereira, and at OBMEP, by the Logistics Coordinator of the scientific competition, Erika Sholl. The visit allowed the committee to observe the work being done to organize the Olympiad, the results of the competition, and its impact on the educational landscape.

The activity was part of the commission's official program, which is composed of government representatives and professors. The group meets in person to analyze the institute's semester and annual results, including actions to disseminate knowledge and mathematical culture nationally and internationally, encouraging young people to study and understand mathematical sciences in all their dimensions, among other things.
