Viana also spoke about the creation of the IMPA undergraduate course, which will be based at the innovation hub in Porto Maravalley, in the port area of Rio de Janeiro, a project in partnership with the Rio de Janeiro City Hall.
“The idea of creating an undergraduate course that combines mathematics and technology promotes the training of new researchers who will develop the field in Brazil. The idea is to have scientific and technological development hubs in Brazil, specific courses with students to train a mass of professionals to innovate and revolutionize the country and the world,” said the minister. “What we are planting is the future, and IMPA can count on our support,” he concluded.
In addition to visiting classrooms, the library, and the auditorium, the delegation toured the site where the new IMPA campus is being built in Jardim Botânico.
