Registration is now open for the 4th Mathematical Mindsets Conference
Registration is now open for the 4th Mathematical Mentalities Conference, to be held September 11–13 at the Sidarta Institute headquarters in Cotia (SP). The event will bring together researchers and teachers from all over Brazil to discuss teaching practices, share experiences, and strengthen the development of knowledge regarding the Mathematical Mindsets (MM) approach.
The program features three days of activities, including roundtable discussions, lectures, workshops, and networking sessions among educators. The 2026 edition will also feature a special program celebrating the 10th anniversary of the Mentalidades Matemáticas program in Brazil, an initiative that seeks to transform the relationship between students and teachers with mathematics through a more collaborative, creative, and inquiry-based approach to learning.
Registration is available through the Even3. Educators, researchers, students, and anyone else interested in learning about and deepening their understanding of this approach are welcome to participate.
Meeting Strengthens Community of Educators and Researchers
The 4th Mathematical Mentalities Conference features a scientific committee composed of researchers and educators from various Brazilian and international institutions. The group is responsible for curating the program and evaluating the submitted papers. The organizing committee includes representatives from the Sidarta Institute and the Federal Institute of São Paulo (IFSP).
Created to bring together professionals in mathematics education and research, the “Mentalidades Matemáticas” Conference has been growing with each edition.
The first edition, held in 2023, brought together 125 participants from 11 Brazilian states and featured the presentation of 31 papers. Following the event, a call for papers led to the publication of 11 articles in a special issue of the journal Nova Paideia. In 2024, there were more than 200 registrants from 17 states and more than 30 papers presented, which resulted in a special issue of the journal Themes & Connections.
The third edition, held in 2025 in Rio de Janeiro—the first time the event was held outside São Paulo—set attendance records, with 305 registrants and 94 papers submitted. The roundtable discussions from previous editions are available on the event’s YouTube channel.
Submission of Papers
In addition to participating in the program, the conference provides an opportunity for educators and researchers to present their work. Applications may be submitted through July 26 via the Even3 platform, in the “Submissions” section.
For this edition, submissions will be accepted in three categories:
- Experience Report: presentation of classroom activities and practices at different levels and in different formats of Basic Education and in teacher training, accompanied by reflections on their development or adaptation.
- Scientific Paper: a presentation of theoretical or empirical research—including preliminary or final results—conducted in undergraduate or graduate programs, research groups, or similar initiatives.
- Workshop: Registration closed
