MCA is now accepting registrations for special sessions.

The Mathematical Council of the Americas (MCofA) is now accepting applications for special sessions for the 2025 MCA (Congress of Mathematics of the Americas) . Interested parties should send their applications to keyfitz.2@osu.edu by March 31, 2024.

For submission, applicants must include the names of all organizers, contact information, title, and a brief description of the project. To learn more,access the call for proposals .

The Wednesdays Congress of Mathematics of the Americas will take place in Miami, between July 21 and 25, 2025. This edition is organized by the Institute of Mathematical Sciences of the Americas, University of Miami (USA).

In addition to the special sessions, the event will feature five plenary sessions. One of them will be given by IMPA researcher Jorge Vitório Pereira, who previously participated in a special session of the congress in 2017 in Montreal, Canada.

“It’s a very interesting congress. It will be my first time as a plenary speaker at the event, and it’s totally different from the special session. I will be speaking to a larger audience, and although I also have a background in Mathematics, it’s not necessarily my field, so it’s a much greater challenge and responsibility. It’s an honor, and I’m excited because I enjoy giving lectures,” Jorge Vitório highlighted.

Alexei Borodini (MIT), June Huh (Princeton), Melanie Matchett Wood (Harvard), and Maciej Zworski (University of California) are also among the plenary speakers at the congress. The program also includes 20 special lectures by researchers from different parts of the Americas. Among the invited speakers are two Brazilians: Alexandre Fernandes (University of Fortaleza) and Ernesto Birgin (USP).

The MCA aims to internationally highlight mathematical work carried out in the Americas and promote collaborations between researchers, students, institutions, and mathematical societies in the Americas.
