This year, the festival's theme will be "Mathematics is Innovation." The goal is to show that mathematics is present in everything from search engine queries to the management of smart cities. Under this theme, the event will offer a program with workshops, exhibitions, film screenings, lectures, and panel discussions. It will be three days of immersion in mathematics and lots of fun. The event is free.
More than 32,000 people have already attended the National Mathematics Festival. The first edition of the event took place in 2017, in three locations in Rio de Janeiro, as part of the 2017-2018 Mathematics Biennium, a federal law established to promote and develop education in the country. The festival brought together 18,000 visitors over four days of programming. The 2022 edition took place at Marina da Glória and had the participation of more than 14,000 people over three days.
