Math fanatic surprises Fields with question about zero.

Julia Jaccoud, a mathematics undergraduate student at the University of São Paulo (USP), created a YouTube channel in 2015 to chat with other students in the field and present mathematics "in a beautiful and fun way," as she herself emphasizes. With around 50,000 subscribers, "The Math Maniac" traveled from São Paulo to Riocentro, where she attended (WM)² and the International Congress of Mathematicians (ICM) 2018, held for the first time in Brazil.

In the video above, she highlights the prizes awarded at the ICM – Fields, Chern, Leelavati, Nevanlinna, and Gauss – and asks her two famous questions to two of the 2018 Fields Medalists: Alessio Figalli, from ETH Zurich, Switzerland; and Akshay Venkatesh, professor at the Institute for Advanced Study, Princeton, and Stanford University, in the United States.
