A primary task for scientific researchers, the submission of articles will be the topic of a round table discussion held virtually on April 13th at 3 PM. The event, jointly promoted by the National Institute of Science and Technology of Mathematics (INCTMat ) and the Brazilian Mathematical Society (SBM ), will be broadcast via Zoom and will be available on the SBM's YouTube channel. Registration is open and must be done on the INCTMat website .

The conversation is part of the “Mathematics as a Profession” series, supported by IMPA, which aims to provide professional development for the community in the field. Participating in the roundtable are Marcelo Viana, Director-General of IMPA; and professors Katrin Gelfert, from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ), and Patrícia Gonçalves, from the Department of Mathematics at the Instituto Superior Técnico de Lisboa (DMIST).

The event will be moderated by Leandro Pessoa, from the Federal University of Piauí (UFPI) . The organization will be handled by Jaqueline Mesquita, from the University of Brasília (UnB), and Paolo Piccione, from the Institute of Mathematics and Statistics of the University of São Paulo (IME-USP).

"This is an important debate about the role of Brazilian scientific journals, particularly in mathematics, and their relevance to the development of research in our country," comments Viana.

Jaqueline hopes that the lecture will promote an exchange of experiences among mathematicians, contributing to the training of young researchers. “To discuss this topic, researchers who are leading figures in the field and have extensive experience on the editorial boards of renowned mathematics journals have been invited. It will be a round table discussion that will bring very important contributions to the training of young researchers. I, personally, am very eager to attend this event,” she stated.
