Live event with Viana launches book about mathematics in Brazil.

The more Brazilians are exposed to mathematics, the better the income distribution, access to the job market, and financial health of the population will be. And the lower the inequality in the country will be.

This is one of the theses of “Declare Independence – How Mathematics Changes Lives in Brazil”, a book authored by Leão Serva, Tiago Piassum and Thales Nóbrega that brings together reflections from professionals in the field. The general director of IMPA, Marcelo Viana, was one of those interviewed for the project, and will participate on Monday (29), at 7 pm, in the live launch of the virtual book. The book is part of a project that argues how mathematics, the foundation of society, is present in many processes of our daily lives. In Brazil, however, the discipline is still an area that faces challenges ranging from basic education and financial literacy to the job market. The goal of "Declare Independence" is to shed light on this topic and offer expert advice so that Brazilians can make better use of mathematics in their daily lives.
