List of qualifiers for the 2nd phase of the 18th OBMEP is released.
The list of those qualified for the second phase of the 18th OBMEP (Brazilian Mathematics Olympiad for Public Schools) was released this Wednesday (2). More than 840,000 students from public and private schools across Brazil will take the test on October 7th, at 2:30 pm (Brasilia time). To check the selected students, access the OBMEP website at this link . The test locations will be announced on August 31st.
In its 18th edition, more than 18.3 million students from all regions of the country participated in the first phase of the exam in May. Organized by IMPA (Institute of Pure and Applied Mathematics) , the initiative is the largest scientific competition in the country and, in this edition, reached 99.87% of Brazilian municipalities and more than 55,000 schools.

The program offers postgraduate scholarships to medalists.
The Olympiad awards public and private schools separately, and this year it doubled the number of awards for private schools to increase their participation. As a result, this edition will distribute 650 gold medals, 1,950 silver medals, 5,850 bronze medals, and 51,000 honorable mentions.
Another new feature this year is the creation of a regional award. In addition to the 8,400 gold, silver, or bronze medals awarded nationwide, at least another 20,500 medals will be distributed regionally.
About OBMEP
The OBMEP (Brazilian Mathematics Olympiad for Public Schools) brings together more than 18 million students from all over the country every year. Aimed at students from the 6th grade of elementary school to the 3rd year of high school, the Olympiad helps to stimulate the study of mathematics and identify young talents in the discipline.
Created in 2005 by IMPA and held with the support of the Brazilian Mathematical Society (SBM), the competition is promoted with resources from the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MCTI) and the Ministry of Education (MEC).
Other objectives of the initiative are to promote social inclusion through the dissemination of knowledge and to contribute to improving the quality of basic education, enabling a greater number of Brazilian students to access quality educational materials.
