Investe Piauí visits IMPA Tech this Thursday (24)

The Strategic Investment Attraction Agency of Piauí (Investe Piauí) visited the IMPA Tech facilities this Thursday (24). The visit to the space is part of a partnership project between IMPA and the state government, which has adopted investment actions in the area of education, technology and innovation in the Northeast region.

The meeting takes place two months after Marcelo Viana, director-general of IMPA, met with the governor of Piauí, Rafael Fonteles, who also holds a master's degree in Mathematical Economics from IMPA and has been working to bring the "Teresina Technology Park" to fruition – a space that will house technology companies and startups. The goal is to further promote the economic development of the region, which already houses the Institute of Technology (PIT), maintained by Investe Piauí.

At IMPA Tech, Raquel Carvalho, head of strategic and infrastructure projects at the agency, and Élida Damasceno, urban planning advisor, visited the laboratories, classrooms, meeting spaces, library, and psychological support center (NAP) for undergraduate programs. They were received by IMPA's general director, Marcelo Viana, operations manager, Francisco Silva, operations coordinator, Leonardo Mendonça, and IT support coordinator, Marcos Amaral.

“We came to Rio de Janeiro for a conversation with the IMPA Tech team. The main objective was to understand the needs related to technology facilities and the operation of some spaces and laboratories. We are also seeking to evaluate the equipment that needs to be included in our project, and considering the experiences that need to be adapted to this reality,” explained Raquel Carvalho.

Inaugurated in 2024, IMPA Tech offers a bachelor's degree in Mathematics of Technology and Innovation, a pioneering program that prepares students to effectively enter the job market. Located in Porto Maravalley, a technology hub developed by the Rio de Janeiro city government, the program boasts an excellent curriculum with strong connections to the economic sector.
