'Independences': Episode 2 addresses mathematics and medicine.

The second episode of the series “Independence Achieved Through Mathematics” shows the discipline's contribution to the development of new technologies in the field of medicine. Guests Paulo Orenstein, researcher at IMPA and member of the Pi Center (IMPA Center for Projects and Innovation), and Heron Werner, physician responsible for fetal medicine at Dasa in Rio de Janeiro, were interviewed by Roberto Imbuzeiro, also a researcher at the institute.

The series was launched by IMPA in commemoration of the bicentennial of Brazil's independence and the 100th anniversary of the Modern Art Week. In three episodes, Imbuzeiro interviews IMPA researchers and guests, addressing the achievements of mathematics in different areas. The first episode is already on IMPA's YouTube channel.

On September 22nd, the third episode will be released, featuring a conversation with João Cândido Portinari, mathematician and founder of the Portinari Project.
