IMPA's new website surpasses one million views.

IMPA's new website surpassed one million views this week. Launched in May of this year, the site brings together news, interesting facts, and scientific content, as well as institutional information.
More interactive and easier to navigate, the site has users from various parts of the world. Although the majority of accesses are, obviously, from Brazilians (86.5%), it also has a captive audience of North Americans (2.36%), Peruvians (1.3%), Colombians (1.5%), Portuguese (0.94%) and French (0.9%), among others.

Within Brazil, Rio de Janeiro has the largest audience visiting the site (33.6%), followed by São Paulo (17.9%), Minas Gerais (8.47%), Ceará (4.5%), and Paraná (3.94%). Rio Grande do Sul, the Federal District, Pernambuco, Bahia, and Santa Catarina make up the group of the ten states with the largest audience.
The audience that accesses the page the most are men (70%) and young people. About 62% of users are between 18 and 34 years old. The most represented age group is between 25-34 years old (37.6%). Users up to 44 years old account for 80% of accesses. Women (30%) also follow the same age range in accessing the page.

During those five months, July was the period with the highest page traffic, with approximately 231,191 visits. This is attributed to the 2017 International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO), organized by IMPA, and the start of the 31st Brazilian Mathematical Colloquium (CBM), which sparked people's interest in exclusive news about the events.
The most accessed news story in these five months was the announcement of the death of researcher Elon Lages de Lima , on May 10th, which reached 16,414 clicks. The second most read story so far is the curiosity about the smallest scientific articles in mathematics in history , from August 10th, with 5,454 accesses.
In a world where smartphones dominate as a tool for accessing information, the surprising fact is that the majority of accesses come from desktops (60%). Mobile comes in second place (37%). The remainder comes from tablets (3%).
Another highlight is the time spent on the page. On average, each reader spends about 2:51 minutes per session, a time considered excellent and reflecting that the content has pleased visitors to the IMPA website.
