IMPA's activities stand out at the 'Climate Science Festival'

Logic games, mathematical challenges and interactive activities are on display at the IMPA stand at the “Science for Climate Festival” held this Friday (14) and Saturday (15) at Quinta da Boa Vista, in Rio de Janeiro. Promoted by the Municipal Secretariat of Science, Technology and Innovation, the event brings together research, innovation and proposals for sustainable solutions to think about the future of the planet.

With free admission, the Festival attracted a diverse audience interested in initiatives that connect science, climate, and society. In the IMPA area, visitors of all ages engaged with mathematics through playful activities that stimulated reasoning, creativity, and scientific curiosity.

OBMEP medalist and PIC participant, Gabriela Tavares, a Tuesdays-year high school student, visited the booth motivated by her passion for mathematics and her desire to enter the IMPA undergraduate program, which is currently accepting applications. “My dream is to get into IMPA Tech. I'm really hoping I can. Now it's just a matter of waiting for the results.”

The experience also pleased those who don't consider themselves particularly fond of mathematics. Ana Farias highlighted the accessible and stimulating nature of the activities. "I'm not the biggest fan of math, but I loved the workshop. The exercises are great for memory and logical reasoning."

A group from the “Nave do Conhecimento da Penha” — which is part of the Festival's program — also attended and praised the IMPA stand. For Ivanice dos Santos, the visit was enriching. “It's very good for mental development. The exhibitors did a fantastic job, they helped us a lot. It was very good!”

Luciula de Oliveira was also enthusiastic about IMPA's activities. "I loved the event. I adored the memory game. I practice a lot at home. The booth is totally my style."
