IMPA Tech releases list of students accepted into undergraduate program.
The Institute of Pure and Applied Mathematics (IMPA) released this Monday (3) the list with the 100 candidates classified for IMPA Tech, undergraduate course in Mathematics of Technology and Innovation. Check it out here.
To secure a place in the bachelor's program, students must submit the required documentation as outlined in the announcement between February 10th and 13th. Registration closes at 5 PM on February 13th.
IMPA Tech allocates places to general competition and provides a quota for candidates from different quota groups, as detailed in the announcement. The selection process took into account the candidates' performance in five knowledge olympiads: OBMEP (Brazilian Mathematics Olympiad for Public Schools); OBM (Brazilian Mathematics Olympiad); OBFEP (Brazilian Physics Olympiad for Public Schools); OBQ (Brazilian Chemistry Olympiad) and OBI (Brazilian Informatics Olympiad) or their ENEM (National High School Exam) math score. In the second phase of the process, candidates participated in virtual interviews.
Inaugurated last year, IMPA Tech is an innovative initiative that seeks to train highly qualified professionals in mathematics and technology for the job market. The undergraduate program is funded by the Federal Government through the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MCTI) and the Ministry of Education (MEC). In addition to providing high-quality, free higher education, the program offers financial aid and student housing for those over 18 years of age, in partnership with the City Hall of Rio de Janeiro.
Classes begin in March.
With classes scheduled to begin on March 17th, students will start their bachelor's degree with a one-year basic cycle. Subsequently, they will choose from four specializations: Mathematics, Computer Science, Data Science, and Physics. The transdisciplinary curriculum ensures many practical activities right from the start of the program.
The location of IMPA Tech is another distinguishing feature. The undergraduate program is located in Porto Maravalley, a technology hub created by the Rio de Janeiro City Hall in the port area to house companies and startups.
