IMPA signs agreement with Itaú Social Foundation

The Institute of Pure and Applied Mathematics (IMPA) signed an agreement with the Itaú Social Foundation last Tuesday (28), in São Paulo. The agreement is valid for one year, with the possibility of renewal, and supports activities such as the training of teachers from the "OBMEP na Escola" program, training of students from the Junior Scientific Initiation Program (PIC) and the development of teaching materials for the "Open Book of Mathematics" project.
The signing of the agreement took place during the Itaú Social Foundation Partners Meeting, held at the Ema Klabin Foundation in São Paulo, with the presence of the general director of IMPA, Marcelo Viana, the superintendent of Itaú Social, Angela Dannemann, and the vice-president of Social Programs of the institution, Fábio Barbosa.

OBMEP medalists must confirm their registration for the PIC.
The agreement has an initial validity of one year, and both parties intend for it to be a long-lasting partnership.
“This agreement significantly highlights the contribution of the private sector to the initiatives developed by IMPA for the benefit of Brazilian society. It should be emphasized that both the Foundation and IMPA see this partnership as a long-term project,” Viana pointed out.
For Angela Dannemann, the agreement reinforces the objectives of the Itaú Social Foundation in its commitment to Brazilian education. “The partnership with IMPA reinforces our purpose of working as a network to build quality education with equity in our country, now also in mathematics, an essential language for understanding the world and developing fully. The continuous training of education professionals is one of the pillars of Itaú Social's work. Expanding teacher training in mathematics is our contribution in partnership with OBMEP.”
